There’s nothing quite like the outdoors. Boots on, tents pitched, fire built, sky with no end.  This is living.

I live and work in Oak Creek/Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  I was born in Portland, OR, but grew up in San Francisco, Dallas, NYC/CT and St Louis. That life included a lot of travel, learning to ski in Vermont, fish the Long island Sound, scuba dive training in the Caribbean, exploring Mexico and our Western deserts.

The University of Denver provided me a broad, hands-on Environmental Science & International Studies degree (and a Scholarship, thank goodness). My Junior year included a five-month home/classes residency in Belem, Brazil, plus extensive time in/on the remote areas of the Amazon River, including camping with indigenous peoples.

My Dad's career took us to multiple states and we did lots of fishing and camping.  I got to experience everything from the scale and diversity of New York City to sunny California and heat stroke Texas.  My Connecticut high school offered a unique educational program where I was able to learn Aquaculture at a dedicated lab on on Long Island Sound (We even had our own trawler and hatchery!). 

DU gave me an extended hub access to discover the West, and the Steamboat area has continued to offer me a wonderful base for adventure and exploration.  Most mornings I start early at Creekside Cafe and I have a great community of fellow adventurers--and friends.

This Outdoors Ready website is part of my personal Journal, and hopefully, a forum/stimulus for the benefits of living an outdoor life.  It also means putting my education into practice and honoring everyone who I have met along the trail. 

We can all "Get Out There"--and need to--the outdoors still rewards us daily with its beauty, peace, wildlife and challenges.  You meet the nicest people out here.  Join me--soon.
