I moved from Denver to Steamboat Springs in 2016. It is a great community of long time locals and adventurer transplants. If it happens outdoors you will find willing company. The Resort owners are making some big investments here, while respecting the environmental impact of development. It is always difficult to find the right balance of economics and environment but Colorado generally gets it right.
The last few years have reminded us to not take for granted what and who we love. Being able to enjoy the outdoors is a blessing. Appreciating our natural resources, protecting wilderness and wildlife, and yes, heeding climate data and analysis is more important than ever.
This is a meandwe thing. Each of us can make a difference, and it will take some collective will to insure a future for all the campers, climbers, snow & water monsters that follow.
On a personal note, I just purchased my first home in Oak Creek, just outside of The Boat. Now I can watch Rockies' sunrises and sunsets from my own porch (well, most of it is owned by a Bank!). I am going to stay for a while and see what I can contribute to our Outdoor future together.
Get out there!
